What is the Wharton P3 program?

To quote Richard Shell, “there is no foolproof system that always leads to success”. The faculty and students of the Wharton MBA program agree with these words wholeheartedly and use this principle in their P3 program (Purpose, Passion and Principles).

The P3 program started when, two years ago, some MBA students asked a Wharton professor to work with them. In return, the professor asked them to give their opinion on his future book (Springborad: Launching Your Personal Search for Success). And from this, a new student club started, where they were discussing books as well as their own insights, aims and thoughts. This club was the foundation of the P3 program which was born not long after. Unlike its predecessor, the P3 was official, and it was created by students and faculty together. You can find out more about the P3 from Wharton`s representative at the MBA25 event.

Of course, being primarily a student initiative, this program remains a student ‘club’ in its core. For instance, during the last semester, 200 students have participated in it, discussing several important problems as well as their own past and the insights it gives them for starting on the career path. The program discussions take place once a week.

A former student who has been a part of the P3 program during his first year at the Wharton University states that it affected him greatly. First of all, it helped him to understand himself better, and find balance between his personal life and his career. P3 also gave him an opportunity to realize what success means for him and what to do during a difficult period in life. It taught him introspection and deep thinking. Overall, P3 was a pleasant experience, with its opportunities to talk to people who understand you and whom you can trust.

According to participants of the Wharton P3 program, it is a great tool for envisioning one’s own path in life and making it clearer and fuller. As a Wharton alumni said, ‘it helped him shape his life legacy’. You have a great opportunity to communicate with one of Wharton`s students or alumni at MBA25 event.
