22nd–23rd October – British Boarding Schools Weekend in Kyiv

Directors and representatives of 24 top-class British independent schools are coming to Kyiv for a weekend to meet Ukrainian families.

If you are looking for a real opportunity for your children (7 to 18 years old) to get their secondary education in the UK, we invite you to the 11th annual British Boarding Schools Weekend

When:

11:00–17:00, Saturday, 22nd October,

12:00–17:00, Sunday, 23rd October.

Where:

Hyatt Regency Kyiv Hotel, 5 Alla Tarasova Street, Kyiv.

The programme includes:

  • personal interviews with directors of British schools;
  • expert advice on British education;
  • topical seminars;
  • entrance examinations, tests and interviews;
  • discounts and scholarships from British schools (for example, Bedstone College is ready to offer bright candidates a scholarship worth 50% of the tuition fee);
  • meetings with Ukrainian students of British schools, and their parents.

Different philosophical doctrines and approaches to studying are typical for British schools. At the fair, you will have an opportunity to meet a variety of schools. King Edward’s School Witley is one of the oldest schools in Britain, having not changed its traditions since 1553. Ackworth School has been upholding Quaker principles while developing students’ tolerance and spirit since XVIII century. CATS College is proud of its dynamic atmosphere, its high-tech equipment and innovative methods of teaching. Cardiff Sixth Form College has been top of British A-level league tables for the last few years. Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate Foundation offers luxury accommodation, widely considered the best in Europe.

Besides private schools, the fair will feature some providers of boarding-school-based summer language courses. For your child, such programmes are a wonderful and painless taster of British education and of studying at a specific school.

Now in its eleventh year, the fair has already dramatically changed the lives of many Ukrainian families. This October weekend could become a life-changing point for your child. Face-to-face communication with directors, school students and their parents will allow you to feel what school is right for your child, and make your final decision.

“It is always the easiest part to think of reasons not to do something and to give in to doubt. You can be convincing yourself for a long time that your child should live with his or her parents and understand the country which he or she was born in. If you wish, you can even write a book called “1000 reasons for not doing so”.

“And in these thousand reasons, our fear is hiding. But it is unknown to children, who adapt quickly to the wonderful life, packed with new knowledge and enthusiasm; they easily make friends with kids from all over the world. And we must overcome this fear in order not to pass it on to our children, for them to be truly and globally free. We are free in choosing the place where we do business, reside, apply our knowledge and skills. Give your children the chance to explore their full potential, and discover their true selves. Give them a chance to fulfill themselves within the global culture and economy.”

Yurii Shylov, Dmytro’s father (Millfield Prep)

“A boarding school does not mean just education. During our study in the Sixth Form, being senior students, we had a privilege – a daily big break equal to a lesson in length. During this break, we gathered in a cafe near the school. There were nearly twelve of us. The funniest thing was that we were all from different countries: Japan, China, Malaysia, France, Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine and many others. At such moments you realise that you would have never met these people without the knowledge of English. Me and my roommate, a Slovak, are flying to visit our friends in Japan soon after our graduation.

“England is a wonderful country that gave me an incredible opportunity to make friends and understand that the world is big and interesting.”

Anastasia Brodovska, Wellington School graduate (19 years old, Kyiv)

The interpreters will work at each table, as well as at the seminars. The event is organised by Business Link Educational Agency with the support of the British Embassy in Ukraine.

Attendance is free of charge. To get your invitation register on the website or contact the organiser by phone: +38 044 494 20 80.
