Sometimes, the answer is spelled out during the listening part, like when somebody is spelling their name. Writing it down could be easy, if not for several small issues:
1. There are similar-sounding English letters, like m and n.
2. For some English letters, the sounding is similar to letters in other languages, like the English j and the French g.
3. In non-English languages, some English letters can even sound in exactly the same way: for instance, German speakers have difficulties distinguishing between b and p, while the Spanish have the same issues with b and v, and the Japanese with r and l.
How do you solve this problem?
First of all, you should practice a lot, using special pronunciation videos. You have to repeat what the native speaker says until you get it just right. Then you listen to the video without looking at the spelling and write what you hear, and then you check your spelling.
