Baku American Center

About

Baku American Center (U.S. Department of State American Spaces Program) is operating under a special agreement between the Embassy of the United States and Azerbaijan University of Languages signed in 2007 (The agreement was updated in 2018).

Baku American Center holds events in 5 directions listed below:

–          Information about the U.S.

–          Information about study in the U.S.

–          English Language Programs

–          Programs with the U.S. Educated Azerbaijani alumni

–          Cultural programs

In 2017 Baku American Center earned a Gold Status for its activities among the American Spaces around the world.

11-year statistics of the Baku American Center’s activity:

–          6000+ events;

–          600+ Maker Space events;

–          600+ volunteers;

–          150000 participants;

–          About 300000 visitors;

–          A library of more than 5000 books and journals; video and DVD collection;

–          Full-text databases: elibraryUSA, JSTOR;

–          Number of satisfied requests: 897148.

The Center has an American-style Library with rich collections of U.S. books and periodicals; two spacious training halls, computer lab and a lecture hall. Overall, the Center provides the following services:

• English Language Learning (English classes, conversation clubs, movie nights, debate clubs

• Programs with Alumni and resources about the study opportunities in the United States

• Distance learning classes (MOOCs, online lectures and etc.)

• Education in USA (monthly presentations)

• American Culture and Information programs (events, concerts and etc.)

• Databases: Center offers subscriptions to such scholarly full-text databases, as elibraryUSA, EBSCO, J-STOR

• Kids’ Center (English Language programs for children at age 4 – 10)

• Maker Space (opening December 2015!) – the innovations lab for students to learn more about engineering, technology and science
